Trump Reveals Reason for Halting Attacks on Iran

US President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States and Iran have reached an agreement on the security of the Strait of Hormuz, while also saying that a deal aimed at eliminating Iran's nuclear weapons capability is close to being reached. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Iran had asked him to call off military strikes planned for the weekend. He said the request was based on the hope of reaching a negotiated settlement.

Trump added that new talks between the United States and Iran are expected to begin on Monday afternoon, aimed at discussing next steps on the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear program.
