Diplomatic tensions between the United States and Iran have entered a new phase after US President Donald Trump insisted that he would not travel to Iran for any talks, while calling on Tehran's leaders to come to the White House if they truly want to reach an agreement.

However, Trump said his position had not changed and that the door to talks was still open, but it was Iran that had to take the initiative to reach out to the United States.
