The United States and Israel are reportedly discussing a plan to block Iranian trade through its land borders, after months of attacks and a naval blockade failed to force Tehran to return to talks on Washington's terms.

According to The Telegraph, the plan would require the US and Israel to pressure countries bordering Iran—including Iraq, Pakistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Armenia and Azerbaijan—to close or impose strict restrictions on border crossings.

The goal would be to reduce imports of essential goods and Iran's exports, thus increasing pressure on the economy and the government in Tehran.

The proposal has reportedly been discussed alongside other options, including continuing the blockade of Iranian ports, resuming major airstrikes or reaching a new agreement through diplomacy.
