Talks between Washington and Tehran are back on the table - Trump

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that talks between Washington and Tehran are ongoing, saying there are signs of genuine interest from Iran, but stressed that they have not yet reached an agreement. 

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Friday, Trump said the contacts were direct and showed a change in Iran's attitude compared to previous times, but warned that there was no guarantee of a lasting solution.

He said the United States will continue to monitor the progress of the talks while taking into account its security and international interests. 

In his remarks, Trump stressed that Iran has been showing greater assertiveness in these talks, which he sees as a sign of political change within Tehran's leadership.
