US President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning against Iran, saying the country will "pay a big price" following attacks that killed US soldiers over the weekend.
The statement comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to rise, in a war that began in February this year.
According to the Pentagon, the weekend was among the most difficult for the US military since the start of the fighting.
Official reports indicate that 17 US soldiers have been confirmed dead. The remains of one soldier are still being examined to confirm his identity. Two soldiers died after Iran attacked a US military base in Jordan. About 430 soldiers have been wounded since the war began.
This number makes the past week one of the deadliest periods for the United States this year.
