Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on the Bulgarian government to reconsider and review its decision to temporarily allow the deployment of US military aircraft at the Bezmer Air Base.

The move comes as part of Tehran's diplomatic efforts to prevent the use of European military infrastructure for operations targeting Iran. Araghchi's strong message is aimed at changing the direction of military cooperation between the Western countries and the US military.

In a telephone conversation with his Bulgarian counterpart, Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova-Chamova, Araghchi formally stated his country's position.

The Iranian leader said that Sofia's approval of the US request to station its military aircraft at the Bezmer Air Base in support of military operations is tantamount to directly supporting aggression against Iran.

The minister added that the move is completely unacceptable and goes against the history and long-standing friendly relations between Iran and Bulgaria.
